EDGE OF SEAT ONLY NEEDED IN THIS MATCH-UP
The Saanich Express prove to be too much for the visiting Westshore Bears in the 2nd home game of their season; with a tremendous supportive crowd of spectators (fans of lacrosse, sponsors, parents, siblings and a large contingent of classmates), the Express laid a course down the tracks and didn't slow down! As stated before the game to fans... "We'll sell you the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge!"
The first half of the 1st period was back and forth with the Express scoring first but the Bears followed it up with 2 goals to take the lead. Cole Davits scored on the powerplay to tie the match and Travis Pelkey scored the go-ahead marker a few minutes later and that is where the lead changed and the home team would not relinquish. Saanich would score two more times in the 1st to take a 5-2 lead into the 1st intermission.
Westshore came out for the 2nd period with a tactic change and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd to cut the lead to 5-4 but then goals from Lavender, Murray, Widdifield and Diemand gave the Express a 9-4 2nd intermission lead.
The Express train kept moving in the 3rd period outscoring the Bears 3-2 in the frame with goals by Vennels (x2) and Lavender. Howarth was stellar in between the pipes making 36 saves on 42 shots for the home team.
With approximately 250 spectators on hand... the Express fed of their fans emotions and pulled out a 12-6 victory in their fourth game of the 2026 PNWJLL regular season. For all game scores and statistics, visit www.pnwjll.com.
