News and Announcements
Good Morning Fans, Sponsors, Players and Families.
The Pacific Northwest Junior Lacrosse League Board of Governors have voted and named the franchise that will host the 2020 British Columbia Junior B2 Provincials.
It is with great pleasure that Andrea and I announce that the Saanich Express have been awarded these Provincial games.
Administratively we are moving forward creatively, in hopes of being able to strike agreements with community partners during these trying times.
Of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are reinforcing Health Canada’s recommendations to all of you to safe-guard yourselves during this health crisis.
We are hopeful that if everyone takes the necessary steps and precautions, we can hopefully all see this through and have it run its course.
We are still working diligently; planning for a lacrosse season should lacrosse resume anytime after May 1st. No set details can be announced due to the circumstances, but be rest assured that Andrea and I and the rest of the Saanich Express faithfuls will continue to plan, organize and prepare to operate once lacrosse is able to be played.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly or email (email@example.com). All Aboard!
The Saanich Express Junior Lacrosse Club would like to provide an update on our direction provided to us from the BCLA, our governing body.
At this time, the Express have made a decision to cancel the two (2) school gymnasium sessions next week. We will have a 3 week break then start up again April 5th with training camp. Please visit our website for training camp details.
With our regular season beginning at the end of April (5 weeks), we are keeping a close eye on the healthcare guidelines and public health and safety recommendations to ensure our athletes, coaches, spectators and families are safe.
We are asking all participants to be mindful of appropriate health guidelines, including washing of hands, not sharing water bottles, etc. Should any individual exhibit symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, please notify your team coach or manager immediately.
We do expect more information in the coming days, weeks and months; and will update our membership appropriately.

The Saanich Express have welcomed International students and players to experience the Canadian Box Lacrosse game during their school break in Japan.
Masato Takao operates the Athlete Academic Abroad-study Agency (http://ato.academy) and along with Yoshiki Kato provide Japanese students with a variety of sporting experiences during their spring and summer breaks in their school year. “A to Inc.” has been working with Canadian Hall of Famer and current General Manager and Head Coach of the Saanich Express Tyson Leies, to provide a rare experience for these student athletes.
“This was truly a rare opportunity for these Japanese student athletes as they have not experienced the Canadian box lacrosse game other than watching National Lacrosse League games on their televisions or on computers. The players are primarily field lacrosse talents whom wished to give box lacrosse a try while they visited our Country and the great City of Victoria.”
These students (Yoshiki Kato, Shohei Aota, Kensuke Kikuchi, and Yasuhiro Hirade) will be working out with the Saanich Express Jr. Lacrosse Club for the next 2 weeks. Coaching assistants Connor Leies and Jorden Tytgat are assisting this endeavor with current members of the team, free agents looking to play for the Express and even current midget players have been invited to participate with the club and students (these players must contact the club to participate).
“We are hopeful that this experience will be a rewarding one for these participants” says Governor Andrea Churchill. "We’ve already begun to plan for the next group of athletes to visit in early September to do the same thing and then get bonus time on the turf with Pacific Rim Field Lacrosse.
The Saanich Express would like to welcome back “RnR Diner” as part of our sponsorship group for the 2020 season.
